Shared Understanding Is the Strategy: Why Knowing Alone Isn’t Enough
Consider:
“Organizations are only as functional as their alignment on a shared reality.”
It’s easy to assume we know the answer, harder to ask, & even harder to get consensus - *knowing* is not scalable - each step is as hard as the next.
Consider how long it takes you to really understand a subject, concept, or idea - now multiply that by how many people you work with.
What you know is not what your colleagues know, is not what their colleagues know - it takes effort to align on *knowing.*
What folks *know* is what they act on, is how they execute, is how they deliver projects.
If you’re operating under different knowledge, you might miss the mark - add more people and you’ll miss even more.
This is why we invented cross-functional teams, matrixed organizations, and other collaborative designs.
But do they work? Are your partners, stakeholders, peers, colleagues, etc. operating on the same knowledge as you? Are you sharing effectively?
Organizations are only as functional as their alignment on a shared reality.
